A Wonderful Display of Patriotism

Yesterday at 3:00 pm people started lining the streets of University Avenue in preparation for the 4th of July parade. We were kind of shocked at the number of people who were camped out along the parade route 18 hours before the parade was going to start.

This morning we got up and ventured out among the massive amounts of people to meet Jake's mom and stepdad at the parade (whom we never found by the way). As we waded through the crowds of people we started to get more and more excited. We still thought people were crazy for camping out to see a parade, but at the same time we were very excited at the wonderful display of patriotism. Jake commented that on national holidays in Hungary people would be out in the streets partying and celebrating, and the people lining the streets for the parade sort of reminded him of that. It was great so see people out celebrating and rejoicing for this country.
