Parks

We love to go play at parks (luckily for us there are a MILLION of them around here).

It's even more fun when friends come along (because then I don't have to ride the teeter totter with Paige).

Silly Cowgirl

One night before bed, Paige decided she wanted to be a cowboy.  She put on the hat and laughed and laughed and laughed.

Space Shuttle Discovery

Recently the Space Shuttle Discovery was retired and brought to the Air and Space Museum in Dulles.  I was working on an evaluation program during that time.  Here's a picture I snapped of the shuttle (with my phone over people's heads so it's not too great).

Before it was taken to the museum it was flown over DC a few times on the back of a plane.  I was driving to a doctor's appointment and saw it fly over!  I was really excited.

Easter

Paige was pretty excited on Easter morning this year.  She liked digging through her Easter basket and looking at all the candy.

She also LOVED hunting for eggs.  I filled the eggs with stickers and she loved running around and picking them all up.  She insisted on doing it again and again.  Of course she wasn't happy if the eggs were empty, so I had to refill them with various things each time (including grapes, cheese-its, etc.)

We tried to get some cute Easter pictures, and here's how it turned out.

My Pi Pie

Happy Pi Day!

Georgetown

Today Paige and I went on an impromptu morning trip to Georgetown (Christen was going to scope out restaurants and I invited myself along). We walked around the main street in Georgetown and stopped and got cupcakes at Georgetown Cupcake (check that off the DC bucket list!).

We took our cupcakes down to the water front and ate them there. Paige loved the candy on top and the pink frosting (she kept saying: "want more pink, please!"), but of course refused to eat any of the cake (she still won't eat cake or bread).

Notice the pink frosting face:

We let the kids run around some on the path by the river.

Then we went down and sat right by the water. The kids were SO excited to see the "birdies!"

Spring Break 2012 (Shenandoah National Park)

Spring Break 2012 was pretty great. Low key and semi-lame, but still great. It's probably our last spring break ever so we wanted to make it awesome. Unfortunately, Jake got sick. Sad. We didn't go anywhere exotic, but we did have some time at home.

Also, we took one day and went to Shenandoah National Park. We really wanted to camp (in fact we packed up the car with all our camping gear...) but it turned out that the campsites weren't open. So we didn't camp (Paige was kind of confused. We had told her we were going camping, so when we got out of the car and were walking the park she kept asking "I camping?"). But we did hike (even though it was pretty windy and cold), drive through the park (which was delightful crowd free) and have a nice picnic lunch. On the way home, Paige feel asleep and slept the entire way home. Quiet bliss!

On the way:

I love the hands buried in her pockets:

Ready to hike:

It was really cold:

Mostly, we just loved having Jake home. With his new job we don't see him as much as we did before, so it was great to have him around. In fact, this was our conversation his first day break at school:

Paige: Daddy?
Heidi: Sorry, Daddy's at school.
Paige: *sigh* He go long time.

We miss having him around!
